30 Day Disney Challenge: Day 21: Adam and Belle

Day 21: "Draw your favorite Disney kiss." This is another one I really didn't have to think about. There are quite a few that I liked, but this one is by far my favorite. I think it must have to do with me as a viewer actually getting to see their relationship progress throughout the movie, and then also that they almost don't get to because as the Beast, Adam almost dies (or does actually die, I'm not sure). So it's relief mixed with passion and devotion, rather than mere infatuation. Not that the others were just infatuation, (or at least, I'd hope they weren't considering how close to the end of the movie they were) just that this one not being that is a reason I liked it.

I was tempted to color the blue lights in pastel, but I'm really not good enough with pastels for that. Not yet, at least. So I'm not going to include them, since they were barely present in the reference shot anyway. I thought about drawing in the background, but when I saw it was after ten, I decided I really didn't want to push it any later. So instead, I took my B8 shading pencil and went with a sort of halo-effect for the couple.

I'm halfway convinced now that there is some kind of curse on my ability to draw Belle. Seriously, I don't think I've been happy with how she turned out once, except for yesterday when her back was mostly turned. Though this one was pretty good after I fixed some lines around her forehead, neck, and hair. It must be that her look just doesn't show up much in my art style or something. My difficulty drawing Belle is kind of funny considering four years ago, I couldn't have drawn the Beast, human form or otherwise, to save my life, and had to make any male I drew very androgenous in order to draw them. Which basically meant I could only draw Cedric XD
But I'm pretty happy with this one.
